Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic disease of the bladder lining. It causes urinary frequency, urgency and pelvic pain. Flare-ups of IC may be triggered by periods of stress, increased physical activity or intercourse. Many types of food and drink in your diet may also exacerbate your symptoms. For a complete list of dietary bladder irritants, please consult the following website: www.ichelp.org. IC can be treated with dietary modifications, medications, bladder instillations and injections.
